The World of Greyhawk
Our World of Greyhawk Map
Blackmoor Map

This little-known land somehow escapes the eyes of both the Wolf Nomads and even Iuz. Its original capital, from which the land takes its name, was sacked and ruined many years ago, but below the ruins, extensive labyrinths still exist where men may find great treasures, magics, or madness and death. Neither the exact location of this city, nor that of a reputed “City of the Gods,” which is said to exist in Blackmoor, is known.

The sparse population of the land is known to be fierce in combat and sometimes aided by monsters, which are plentiful in Blackmoor (some say that hot springs and volcanos make this land habitable and create fecundity in the monsters which maraud the land).

The expedition of Archmage Marinian of Willip was lost here without trace in 577 CY. While the dangers of Blackmoor, both magical and mundane, may be great in superstition and travelers’ tales, the fact that not even Iuz seeks dominion here is telling indeed.

Its peoples have little contact with the outside world, for the outside world sees the Archbarony as having little to offer in return for the dangerous journey required to reach it. A few refugees from the Bandit Kingdoms and from Tenh have brought a slight increase to Blackmoor’s population in recent years.

Heroes of old made a name for themselves doing great deeds and fighting against great evil, and now, at a critical moment in history, new heroes will meet by chance to write stories themselves.

Join us as we journey into a world of high fantasy where dragons are abound and where heroes are made. Walk with us as we explore the unknown in search of great treasures, dangerous foes and legendary deeds.

Adventure Introduction
To a party of adventurers such as yourselves, what you see is but another dull tavern in another dull settlement in some nameless region. It is but another span of time between the challenges of true adventuring.

Outside the tavern, a chill settles over the village of Darkshelf this evening. Throughout the settlement windows begin to light up as darkness settles in. A cold breeze blowing in from the north brings a chill that causes fireplaces to spark to life.

Yet inside these tavern walls, spirits are high, and the food is hot. A fire blazes in the hearth, and the tavern is quiet with a few random voices of country folk.

Dusk falls, and several travelers come to the tavern for food, warmth, and a place to rest. A handful of people are here, eating, drinking, and talking about their day. One day is basically the same as another in this region. But, recently things have not seemed right, the locals mood has darkened, as if something terrible was about to happen.

Meanwhile . . . a young boy approaches your table, Can I get you anything to eat . . . to drink?

« About Our Adventures »

Welcome everyone. I want to try and educate everyone on exactly what we will be doing in the World of Greyhawk campaign setting. As most of you already are aware of, Greyhawk " especially the Blackmoor setting "which we are currently in" is a very old campaign setting" and it has a wealth of adventures to choose from 1st edition rules, B/X and Old-School Essentials Classic Fantasy.

This does however create a problem for us with finding players to keep our groups full. Most D&D players and even DMs play using 5th edition rules. It is easier to find other players to add to the group plus it is the newest set of rules out so naturally most people will play 5th edition. With us using a slightly modified version of Old-School Essentials Classic Fantasy rules, it will make it harder for us to find other players to bring into the fold but we will figure something out one way or another.

We are also out of practice as DMs and players but we will make do with the best we have to work with and try to improve with each session.

Wish us luck because I am sure this will be a challenge.

We are always looking for more like minded players and also Dungeon Masters that would like to play Dungeons & Dragons using a slightly modified version of Old-School Essentials Classic Fantasy that will be "dedicated" players & DMs. We have had a rough run here recently not being able to hold onto players due to real life issues. We have all been out of the game for many years and I for one am very rusty with the World of Greyhawk so if you can tolerate mistakes being made while we learn & relearn then please give us a shout out.

If you think you would like to join us, you can comment on any of the posts on this blog or the comment section located here.

« Old-School Essentials »

Old-School Essentials or OSE is an adventure roleplaying game of exploration, danger, monsters, and magic. The game is intentionally rules light, putting the focus of play on imagination, improvisation, and fun.

Old School Essentials is a retroclone of the Basic & Expert D&D Rules by Tom Moldvay, published in 1981. These rules were a revision of Holmes Basic and intended to introduce D&D to new players. They were released in two boxed sets the Red 'Basic' set and the Blue 'Expert' set.

« Blog Admin's »

Greetings everyone. I would like to extend a warm welcome to you. This blog will cover the Greyhawk campaign setting and its adventures that are being worked on here. We will be using a slightly modified version of Old-School Essentials Classic Fantasy rules as our primary core rules.

This blog is in it's beginning stages and will take time before it can be fleshed out into something worth reading, but given time this place should be packed full of information concerning our campaign adventures.

Our adventures journals will be posted here. All of our Twitch stream sessions and Youtube uploads will be posted here as well. We hope you enjoy your stay and please subscribe and follow to all or of our multi media locations.

The admin for this blog is James Fullard who is also the Dungeon Master for this group.
